Connect

Connecting with cultures has given me and my family a sense of belonging to a global community. Travel has given me awareness and appreciation for how much more alike than we are different. These connections enable our collective strength.

Dress

Formal and conservative dress is key in
Egypt. You are not expected to adopt
traditional garb but it is best to stay
covered; especially if you are a woman.

Meetings

Meetings may often be interrupted by
phone calls or drop-in visitors. This is
quite normal so do not take it as
rudeness.

Gifts

Gift giving is not common business
practice in Egypt.

Hand Gestures and Body Language

Do not sit with your legs crossed or show
the soles of your feet to another person; it
is considered offensive.

Formalities

Egyptians tend to stand and sit closer
than Westerners; do not pull away as this
is a sign of disrespect.

Business cards should be printed in English
on one side and Arabic on the other.
