Venice

The city of Venice, Italy is simply stunning and completely unique. Founded more than 1,500 years ago.

Venice is built on 117 small islands...has about 150 canals... and they are link by more than 400 bridges---only three of which cross the Grand Canal.

The historic centre is divided into six districts which cover a deceptively small area - in fact, walking from North to South should only take about 30 minutes. The city's 'main street' is the Grand Canal, which passes each of the 6 districts as it twists along the length of Venice

Art, history, culture, great restaurants, fine wine, accommodation in every price range...its no wonder that an estimated 10 million tourists visit Venice each year.

I recommend you Purchase a Venice Card...it entitles you to discounts at some shops, restaurants, cinemas, museums, exhibitions and also for some transport services.

Unless you're near a bridge, the quickest (and cheapest) way across the Grand Canal is by rowboat. You'll ride in a secondhand gondola for the price of a candy bar.

One of the best ways to see Venice is by foot...most of the top attractions are easily within walking distance. So be sure to pack comfortable shoes.
