Mexico
Huatulco
Huatulco is located along the coast of Oaxaca --- its made up of 9 secluded bays and 36 beaches of unspoiled coast line. This gorgeous resort area is likely to rival Cancun and Puerto Vallarta in years to come.
One of Mexico's newest tourist destinations on the Pacific Ocean, Huatulco was a fishing village, until the Mexican government began developing it as a ‘planned tourist complex' in 1983. It's a resort destination with an intimate, quiet ambiance and unspoiled tropical beauty.
Since 1983, a wide array of accommodation has been built. From moderate hotels to all-inclusive resorts and all of the things you would expect from a great resort destination are available --- there's golf, water sports, shopping, dining and crystal-clear turquoise water.
If you are lucky enough to visit, here are a few travel tips:
· The weather nearly year-round is 28ºC and clear.
· I recommend taking a tour north of Huatulco --- there are some beautiful beaches and villages --- plus a ‘must see' is the National Mexican Turtle Center.
· And, avoid renting a car --- this goes for anywhere in Mexico. If you do, pay attention to the pre- inspection routine for existing car damage. A favorite scam is to charge an extra 50 to 100 bucks for minor scratches and dings when you turn the car back in.
