Time Spent Trip Planning

When you are planning a trip, how much time do you devote to seeking inspiration and scoping out options before making a decision?

Are you one who knows exactly what they are looking for? Or are you the type of traveller who likes to explore what’s out there, and invest time in finding what speaks to you?

According to Expedia, travellers spend an average of over five hours researching trips before making a purchase.

The majority of travellers surveyed said they are undecided on exactly where they want to go before they begin the planning process, with nearly three in five travellers saying they don’t have a specific destination in mind or will consider multiple places when they decide to take a trip.

As for which resources they use to do their research and planning, 80 percent use Online Travel Agencies, 61 percent use search engines, 58 percent social media, 54 percent airline websites, and 51 percent use meta travel sites with rate comparison platforms.

In the early planning stages, travellers spread out their research, averaging about 2 and a half page views per day. In the few days leading up to booking that bumps exponentially, with 25 page views on the day they ultimately book.

Making the right travel decisions can take time and patience. But, committing energy to finding what suits your budget and needs is most often worth the effort.

And finally, I recommend engaging an experienced travel agent who can suggest some amazing places for you to consider – plus save you both time & money!
