Vacation Items You’ll Regret Packing

Well with luggage fees in full effect, it seems that most travelers are concerned with traveling light nowadays.

Here are some items that you’ll definitely regret packing:

First, any overlap with your travel companion. Whether you’re going on a girl’s weekend or a vacation with your spouse, cross-check your packing lists to ensure there is minimal overlap. You can share toothpaste, sunscreen, and other toiletries.

And you’ll want to make sure you don’t pack your entire medicine cabinet. Obviously, you need your daily prescriptions and you should have some IB profin and maybe even Pepto Bismol but don’t forget the place you are visiting will likely have a pharmacy unless you are going somewhere super remote. If someone gets sick you can stock up on meds while you’re there.

And make sure that you don’t pack too much workout gear. Do you really need five pairs of yoga pants so you can go on a 5 am run each morning? While it’s admirable and good to set goals, if you’ve never worked out on a vacation before, don’t go overboard. Bring along enough athletic outfits for a hike or other adventure, but leave the rest at home.

And you also won’t want to pack more than two bathing suits. For most trips, two is enough. One can dry while you wear the other. And that formal outfit you MIGHT wear? Leave it at home too.

Think about your itinerary carefully. If you don’t have any formal events, then you most likely won’t need formal wear. Same thing goes for super high heals. If there’s an event where you’ll need these items, you’ll most likely know about it in advance.

And don’t bother bringing your own hairdryer. Check with the hotel to see if they have one in every room. The hotel’s version might not be the one you’re most comfortable with, but it will save an outfit’s worth of space in your bag.

And finally, don’t bring anything irreplaceable.

And, if you must bring along a family heirloom or other invaluable item, stash it in your carry- on or wear it on your person at all times.
